Midsummer Night Shot

Midsummer Night Shot with Sony NEX-5 in Night shot mode

Up on the roof I listened to the soundscape of summer in the city: cars zooming by, yells and laughter traveling up in the air, a distant brum coming closer, the three bell towers remaining silent after their last call at midnight.

The moon only shows half circle, hidden behind flares of cloud. I tried the night shot mode of my Sony NEX-5 camera for the first time, and it seems to compose the sharpest total of 5 exposures, taken in rapid sequence.

I love to go up on the roof, be away from it all, it seems. The roof terrace was one of the first ideas that came to mind when we bought the house and started renovating. Announcing a drink or dinner upstairs we often play Up On The Roof by The Drifters. Sets the mood. 😉

This video shows lovely images of New York rooftops, it’s written by New Yorkers, produced and arranged at the legendary Atlantic Studios, and sung for the most part by New Yorkers.

Up On The Roof was written by Carol King and Gerry Goffin. It was recorded in 1962 by the Drifters.
