In school self portraits were made from magazines, collage style. Every portrait carried a name under it and a birthday, put together like a calendar wall. They may not seem very precise, rather fauve, with a lot of energy, but it seems the children would recognize each other by their color blobs. Able to read abstract works of art, they did among them. Communicating. Their own little lingo, brilliant!
I think the collage portraits are excellent examples of unconditioned expression , they all show individuals. Shattered in their own way.
