The Plant – 26 04 2020 – wilson tichelaar

There’s a stretch of land between the dyke along the IJmeer east of Amsterdam and Vattenfall’s energy plant, where I like to cycle, on my way to the ancient village of Muiden. The other day I went out early and took a sketchbook and color pencils along.

There was something about the sun-drenched scene of the industrial buildings and the rough looking patch of nature that made me stop and catch the moment.

Catching the moment is a phrase Louis Visser used, the local outdoor painter, when I asked him about the work he was doing along the cycle lane along the Middenweg one day. (Read the post here)

I bumped into him again the other day, when he was painting a scene from Peek’s boat yard, close to Amsterdam’s city camping site.

It made me think.

Always out there, somewhere, painting.

Just doing it.
